The great rock : from the Monterey Festival (1967) to the death of John Lennon (1980)

From the beginning of the epic of big concert-meetings, to the assassination of one of the most important figures in rock history.

Monterey, Woodstock, Altamont , isle of wight, concert for Bangladesh, hard rock…the advent of progressive..the explosion of punk. Defining a time in rock can be a limitation, but in this case we want to take a historical period that had a major influence on the art world and the generations that lived that period, that dream.

Graphic art and communication

The covers of the major trade magazines : Rolling stone, Melody maker, New musical express, Sounds, Musicians only, Rock star, Street life, mark the most important moments of those years and in some cases bring back images of very famous photographers who show us the protagonists of those years in a different light.
The entire magazine collection consists of many more “pieces.” We are in the range of 5,000 magazines.

The idea of extrapolating this collection of magazines from the whole of that huge collection of thousands of music magazines that over the course of 30 years I have collected all over the world , came to me with the intention of condensing in a ‘limited’ number of 220/230 covers , that could become an exhibition that , through symbolic images, is able to give an effective testimony of that fantastic period that were the 60s and 70s for rock music.
